Partial Dentures

In the opposite to fixed dental bridges partial prostheses may be removed. They only may be applied to individuals who still have sufficient healthy teeth. Partial dentures consist of a basic frame of medical stainless steel to which the artificial teeth will be fixed. In the upper jaw this mostly is a sheet attached to the palate. In contrast, in the lower jaw a bracket that will be fixed to the still healthy teeth. Using braces is the simplest way to safely fix a partial denture to the remaining teeth. The advantage of the brace is that decay-free or less destroyed teeth must not be crowned for the inclusion of the brace.  However, these teeth will be additionally stressed by the braces, sometimes even overstressed and through the durable coverage of particular teeth areas also decay may occur. In particular situations, if the braces are fixed to the front area aesthetic disadvantages may be caused. However, braces may be skipped, if the prostheses will be connected to the teeth using boulders, bars or anchors. To do so, at least two teeth must be crowned. In the terminology this solution is called a “combined denture” since it is a combination of a fixed and a removable prosthesis. Through the combination of crowns, bridges, and partial dentures as well as not visible retaining elements a functional and cosmetically satisfying result may be reached at low cost. On request your health insurance fund will provide a subsidy for a particular number of dental brace crowns but the anchors you must pay from your own pocket. This “health insurance fund prosthesis” stands for dental quality performance at an affordable price.

5 Reasons for the Treatment with Partial Prostheses

  • There are still sufficient teeth for the grip of a partial denture
  • Tooth implants are not appropriate
  • Fast treatment since the partial prosthesis with braces will be inserted after one week. An attachment prosthesis can be completed in sessions in one week intervals.
  • Aesthetics do not play a great role
  • Affordable treatment

Full dentures

If there is no own tooth left a removable full denture / total denture from plastics will be made. This starting situation imposes very special challenges to the dentist and the dental technicians since there no criteria exist anymore in regard to size, shape, position and length of the teeth as well as the location of the occlusal plane. Moreover, the only retaining element will be the suction power of the mucosa. Today, in many cases it will be possible to provide even adverse jaw shape with strongly retarded alveolar ridges with a good fitting and flawless functioning full prosthesis. On the one hand this will be made by a careful construction of the prosthesis base – the area covering the mucosa – and on the other hand through the alignment of the prosthesis to the functional and mimic muscle performance of the patient. To enhance the grip of a full denture they may be fixed to implants with ball fixture, bar or telescopes.

5 Reasons for the Treatment with Full Prostheses

  • There are no teeth for the fixing of a partial denture, or crowns/bridges exist
  • Tooth implants are not appropriate
  • Fast treatment since the full prosthesis can be completed in four sessions in one week intervals.
  • No gag reflex while covering the palate
  • The full dental prosthesis represents a cost-efficient treatment

Telescopic Prosthesis

If a fixed bridge due to too much lacking teeth will not be possible a removable denture may be designed. For this, firstly the existing teeth will be crowned (primary crowns) and then a removable bridge will be fixed to these primary crowns.

The grip of these removable bridges is very good and a perfect oral hygiene for the patient will be possible. A great advantage is the extensibility with lost teeth since no new denture must be produced. With us this type of treatment virtually will not be applied anymore because due to the frugal durability and aesthetics, and good alternatives our patients may choose more comfortable options.

5 Reasons for the Treatment with Telescopic Prostheses

  • Per jaw only 2-5 teeth for the fixing of a dental prosthesis exist
  • Implants are not suitable
  • In comparison with implant solutions this is a relatively fast treatment. Telescopic prostheses may be completed within four appointments with one week interval.
  • Aesthetics do not play a great role
  • Compared to dental implants this treatment will be affordable.
